Everything you need to know about Super League
😄 Have Fun
This isn't the US Open. It's a bunch of middle-aged men with various levels of athleticism trying to get a workout and have some fun. Try to win your matches but try not to take it too seriously. Lobbing (annoying) and getting hit in the liver by Tom Henvey (ouch) come with the territory.
🎾 The League
This particular group was formed because Chris wanted to pay $28 a session for tennis, rather than $55 for Total Tennis, which included a lot of time on Court 6 with Aunt Betty. It's been working out for him.
That said, he doesn't make any money on the venture. In fact, he loses a ton covering sessions in the initial registration, buying extra balls, and on stupid trophies. If you are missing $32.50, he might also pay for it. You pay HIT directly for your tennis and also complain to them.
💰 The Fees
HIT is under new management. They have jacked up our rates to $34 this year.
Once you pay, that's it — you own your sessions. You cannot get your money back. You can, however, sell/trade your sessions — but only to a like-rated player or better.
🔄 Subs
With regard to subs, the policy is simple:
You are responsible for filling your slot. No exceptions. If you fail and leave 3 guys on the court playing pocket pool, you owe each stranded player $34.
If you do not pay, you will be excluded from the sub pool. The sub pool is basically "free tennis," subsidized from the player skipping out. Therefore, subs should go first to players on the list — not your cousin or work buddy.
📜 The Cortese Rule
To be an eligible sub, you must register and pay a minimum of 5 slots per session. No exceptions.
Connell Boyle inspired this rule.
🕐 Time Changes
From time to time, we will be offered an earlier time slot. This is great news for guys that go to bed earlier.
Your entire court must agree to the time change (texting your foursome will suffice).
